Grammys offer some not-so-surprising winners

After viewing a bit of the Grammys from various clips on TikTok and the last 2 awards being given on paramount plus, it is no surprise that these fantastic artists won. The winners were Luther by Kendrick Lamar and SZA for Record of the year, Debi TiRAR MaS FOTos by Bad Bunny for Album of the year, WILDFLOWER by Billie Billish for Song of the year, Olivia Dean for Best new artist, Cirkut for Producer of the year, Non-Classical, and Amy Allen for Songwriter of the year, Non-Classical.

It was so much fun guessing who I thought it might be and even though I was biased and wanted Billie Eillish to win it all (at least all the categories she was selected for) each artist’s voice is unique and brilliant. I know of the artists, but I honestly have not heard many of these songs or albums. Music now is hard to compete with the music that I grew up with. If it were not for TikTok I would not know of most of these songs because I don’t listen to the radio anymore. 

I am a huge fan of Sabrina Carpenters acting from Girl Meets World (the continuation of Boy Meets World) but not so much of her music although I will not ever say that she doesn’t have an amazing voice. Leon Thomas is someone I never would’ve guessed would be on here despite his role in Victorious where he was an amazing singer/instrument player and songwriter and now after hearing some of his music brings me back to the days, I watched Victorious (which was yesterday).

Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s songs are always so good, my favorite of theirs is All the Stars. Golden is a very popular song that even plays on Walmart radio, little kids love it, K-pop/ BTS fans love it, not that I think it’s bad it’s just not my cup of tea. I love Bruno Mars earlier music not so much his new music, however I will say Die with a Smile is pretty good and a collab with Lady Gaga was definitely not on my 2025 bingo card. Doechii honestly has a really great voice but the song Anxiety replaying on TikTok kind of got old. I have heard bits and pieces of Chappell Roan on TikTok but have never heard any of her songs fully. I was a fan of Justin Biebers music when he was first popular, and I was 6 or 7. I do love Tyler the Creator’s music and I must say my favorite from the album CHROMAKOPIA is Like him. As far as I know I don’t believe I have heard of the group Let God Sort Em Out, so I can’t really say anything about them. As far as the non-classical categories I have not heard the names Amy Allen or Cirkut.

This was my first time watching and honestly it wasn’t too bad, the live performances, the comedy, the familiar faces and wonderful fashion was amazing to view through my silver screen and I definitely would watch next years Grammy Awards.
