There was a time when Women were belittled every day for simply just being women.Men looked at us and saw less than what we really were.
Sometimes we couldn’t breastfeed in public because it was “gross,” we couldn’t have high paying jobs because it would’ve made the men feel little about himself boo-hoo.
Well let me tell you something they told us that our place was in the kitchen making food for our husbands and in the homes raising 8 children but we broke through that stereotype and we made names for ourselves.
They said we weren’t supposed to take over jobs and put men in their place, but we did.
They said we weren’t supposed to take up half of the Congress, but we did! According to cawp.rutgers.edu, there are 127 (106D, 21R) women who hold seats in the United States Congress.
They told us not to cry because it makes us look weak. But we cry anyways because it shows that the women who marched for us to have rights didn’t do it for anything.
When we dream of being equal with men we are “funny”.However, when we stand up for what we believe in we need to “lower our standards,”.
When we are too good there is something wrong with us, why does it have to be this way? Let me have my voice.
I am a woman let me roar, let me be who I want to be and not what society wants me to be.
Stop telling our young girls how they must act, eat, sleep, and dress.Young girls should be able to be who they want to be without anyone getting in their way.
Now, I don’t know about you, but I don’t want someone coming to my 12-year-old sister telling her she can’t do something because she’s a girl, I want them to tell her she can because she is a girl.
Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony campaigned for constitutional amendments for the universal suffrage in America. Not just that, but other women’s rights too. They campaigned for changes in divorce laws and an end to employment and pay discrimination towards women.
In 1920 women got the right to vote in the United States.Since then we had come a long way. It’s time to empower each other, build a sisterhood with the girls around you. It’s time for us to dream bigger, dream “crazier” a women boxing is crazy, a woman coaching an NBA team, crazy, women competing in a hijab crazy, a woman running for president, crazy.
So if they want to call you crazy, then show them what crazy can do. So Men with dignity and strength, we must raise our women up and empower them. Women are rising up and doing things they told us we weren’t supposed to do.
So ask me about my feminist agenda.Ask me why I became a feminist, don't tell me that I am against men because I am not. “The strength and power of a country depends absolutely on the quantity of good men and women in it.” –John Ruskin.
