Honoring the past, Building the future

On June 28th, 2019 our very own EPCC will be turning 50! EPCC is celebrating the 50 years it has had to be able to improve the community through education.

“EPCCs success, the past 50 years would not be possible without the collective contribution of our students, employees, along with our community partners.” Associate Vice President, Keri Moe says.

The commitment of the student’s, EPCC was recognized as one of the top ten community colleges in the nation and was rated #2 of the top 25 colleges for Hispanic students in 2016 by the Hispanic Outlook Publications and was a recipient of the HEED award from Insight into Diversity magazine for the fifth year in a row in 2017.

From hands-on classroom instruction by skilled faculty, more than 30,000 hours have been donated by students through the Service Learning Program in the 2016-17 academic year.

EPCC has been committed to the engagement of students inside and outside of the classroom. EPCC has started programs to adopt elementary schools in the El Paso, Socorro, Ysleta, Canutillo and Clint school districts to make sure that the next generation of college students are college ready.

The college had only began with only 901 students enrolled and the barracks of Ft Bliss’ Logan Heights for classroom space. Over the years EPCC has served over one million students and has awarded over 80,000 Degrees and Certificates.

EPCC will continue to serve the next generation of students through our Dual Credit Programs, which will in fact offer college credit to high school students, and will be found in every area school district.

EPCC has over 12 Early College High Schools, this is where students can complete an Associate Degree while they’re still in high school! There has been a huge boost in the graduation rate for high school students which is a high 75% which happens to be double the national average.

By making sure the students of EPCC know that this is the best place to start and finish, EPCC is expanding with new buildings and giving additional facilities to all five campuses. This is one of the many ways EPCC is building the future.

During the year of 2019, EPCC will have a wide range of events to help celebrate the 50th Anniversary of EPCC. They are asking for all students help and celebrate the many more years to come.
