Ask yourself these three questions: Do you understand what the flag represents? What does the United States of America stand for? Why do you think Colin Kaepernick kneeled?
The Color of the American flag are red, white, and blue. Every color is symbolic; red symbolizes hardiness and valor, white symbolizes purity and innocence, and blue symbolizes vigilance, perseverance and justice.
The UNITED States of America to you should mean that you have the right to be free. We, as citizens need to remember that we came together and “UNITED” as 13 colonies that didn’t have much, but we came together as one to make this great country. On July 4th, 1776 the United States of America were then declared an independent country where we are now able to practice all our rights that no one can take from us.
Kaepernick till this day kneels because the American flag doesn’t represent what it used to, it’s supposed to represent justice; but how much justice is really made to a black man who was shot and killed by police that thought he was “armed”.
No one has the “cojones” to step up to what we believe in because they forget we have rights. By kneeling Kaepernick is making a voice for those people who don’t have a voice, he knows he has a platform that is able to speak up and speak loudly.
So HERE WE GO AGAIN! People thinking that Kaepernick should only stay a football player, and not get involved into politics, which is such an ignorant thing to say because not only does he have the “cojones” to stand up for what he believes in but he also feels hurt as a black man to see his brothers and sisters laid out on the streets every day, all because a police officer wants to use his “power” to say that an innocent man was armed. So why are you mad?
Why are you not educated enough to see that this isn’t about soldiers, this isn’t about being unpatriotic, it’s about the oppressing of black men and people of color.
Instead why don’t YOU kneel when you hear our Pledge of Allegiance.
It’s already 2018 people and we still make it seem like we are in the 1800s, where people of color were segregated from whites in schools, armed forces, transportation and recreational facilities.
A black man can’t even step out of his own home without being judged as a criminal, he could live in the richest part of the town and still be looked at as a “bad person”.
What I don’t understand is why just recently, a black man was shot in his OWN APARTMENT because a white female police officer believed to have been in her own apartment, but later neighbors have said they heard the officer shouting at the man’s apartment to let her in.
This is where it starts to unfold and looks familiar with recent police shootings of an unarmed black man.
Instead of examining her and her mental state they made sure to examine the black man and accused him of having weed in his home.
How is it possible to execute an innocent unarmed black man and execute his character even when he is dead?
I will never understand why this government is so screwed up, I will never pledge to a flag that doesn’t symbolize its colors anymore because of a president that has segregated the United States once more; therefore, I as a Latina woman will stand firmly behind Kaepernick and his decision to kneel and “Believe in something.
Even if it means sacrificing everything”.
