Attention all EPCC staff members, the Human Resources Development department is hosting their 25th annual Staff Developmental Retreat.
“It brings all the departments together since there are five campuses. We really don’t get to see or communicate with everyone,” Jessica H. Diaz, Senior Administrative Associate for Workforce and Continuing Education, said.
The retreat will be held in Miami from April 25-28 at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay.
“Miami, their livelihood is tourism. They’re going to do anything in their power to get back and be fully operational again,” said Alex Hernandez, Human Resource Developmental Director.
The HR department’s goal is to bring all five campuses together so that the staff can team build.
“We’re very excited and very happy to participate in this program. It’s a very good opportunity to network and get to know people from other campuses,” said Mari Reyes, Human Resources Developmental Specialist, said.
The annual retreat is meant to be an interactive educational experience to teach the faculty and staff about new ways to think and communicate more effectively with each other.
The members will be participating in a program called, “Celebrate by Dewitt Jones.”
“It’s a team-building program and people tend to gravitate toward the negative when we should really be celebrating the positive things in life,” Hernandez added.
Employees pay $400 while Human Resources pays for the rest of the trip.
Only 49 can attend the trip in order to fit the budget.
“The cost is the same amount that we were using 14 years ago and we’re doing more since Mari’s [Reyes] very resourceful when she talks to the hotels and the airport,” Hernandez said.
