The "Cuban Sandwich" is "Maracas'" most famous specialty sandwich.
“Maracas” is an establishment situated on the west side of El Paso, better known for its Puerto Rican specialties.
The place is located right in front of the Outlet Shoppes which makes it convenient for all of the people that are in a rush after a long shopping day.
I went around 5 p.m., there were a couple of customers inside and they all looked happy while eating a delicious looking sandwich.
The ambience of the place is amazing, it’s a pretty simple looking restaurant with a warm welcoming feeling.
In the background Puerto Rican music plays making you feel as if you were somewhere in the Caribbean.
I asked the cashier for the specialty of the house and he told me, “We are famous for our Cuban sandwich.” I didn’t hesitate and let me tell you, it did not disappoint me at all.
The Cuban sandwich was made with some French type of bread and had pulled pork, ham, mustard, pickles and cheese.
It included a side and you could choose between a salad, some french fries or hash browns. I chose hash browns to compliment my meal.
The pulled pork was super tender and flavorful, the cheese was perfect, it had this natural flavor, not like the ones fast food chains use. The bread was warm, crunchy, and delicious.
The hash browns were perfect as well, crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside.
Every bite that I took gave me a flavorful experience. All these flavors combined perfectly and gives you some type of inner pleasure.
“Maracas” also offers Puerto Rican beverages.
Tamarind Goya soda was the perfect choice to make, it was delicious, sweet, but not that much, it was just enough to make it taste amazing and to make you keep buying more.
To be honest, at first I did not know what to expect with this restaurant knowing that it had been sold with the same recipes but different management.
It made me think that maybe it was not going to be a good experience but the truth is that I loved it and I would recommend it over all of the fast food sandwich franchises out there.
I am really impressed and I will be going back soon.
