Whenever I show a foreigner my country and my culture I get this feeling of pride just knowing that they will get to know my country just the way that I know it.
Last week I went to a restaurant in Juarez named Viva Mexico.
I can’t even express how much I liked it, it was a completely different experience.
They had dances that represented different states all over Mexico, they also had a show with horses and something that couldn’t be missed – mariachis.
When I was watching the show the only thing I could think about was showing it to someone that wasn’t Mexican, that didn’t know much about my culture.
Each time I experience something such as that show I feel so proud of my culture and so proud of where I come from.
I want people to know that Mexico is not just a place to go and get drunk over spring break, that it's not just another dirty country, but that it has a lot more to offer than what people give it credit for.
I hope that everyone else feels the same about their country as I do because we are all representing it whenever we’re somewhere else.
I feel like we don’t get to know another culture until someone else shows it to us and until we experience it with our own eyes, we don’t have the right to judge the country.
One of my golas in life is get to know other countries and their traditions, but not just go and stay at this nice hotel and do the typical tour.
I want to get to know as much as I can and hopefully one day I will.
So just as I want to get to know other cultures, I also want my culture to be known for what it is.
Yes, it has bad aspects just as every other culture out there.
Just give it a chance and get to know your culture and others, I’m sure it will be eye-opening for many people.
I feel like there’s so much out there that we don’t know about other countries that we really should.
Just be more open to people that aren’t from your country and you’ll be amazed at how much you can learn from them.
So take pride in your culture, respect others, have an open mind when it comes to learning from those people around you.
