The play will begin at 8 p.m., at the EPCC Transmountain Theatre on Aug. 26, and will run on weekends until Sept. 4.
Show times will be from Friday to Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Ticket prices may vary between $7 to $15.
Guys and Dolls is a Musical Theatre play written by Abe Burrows and Jo Swerling, with lyrics by Frank Loesser.
The play is being directed by the EPCC Forum Theatre Artistic Director Keith Townsend, and choreographed by Camille Acosta.
“This play takes place between two couples, Adeline and Nathan, and Sarah and Sky. You get to learn the relationship that they have with each other,” said Acosta. Acosta was a fellow student of Townsend.
“I’ve been working with Keith since I was 15-years-old.
This past summer, I started choreographing for him, and it is exciting because it gives me a new respect for him and the people behind the scenes as supposed to being on stage,” said Acosta.
Acosta also expressed the importance of the play and the challenges that she faced during production.
“The challenges that I’ve faced is that it is a big dancing number,” said Acosta. “The dancing has to be right out there with the acting, and we have a bunch of good actors. I have to be that sure I step up my game.”
EPCC Student Eric Canales is also involved with the Performance Studies Program, and his character in the play is named Nathan.
“This play has a story that a lot of people can relate to –even if it was written in the 1950s,” said Canales. “It has amazing music, and I know that the set will be done by a very trusting team. It is going to be an amazing set and cast. The audience will definitely enjoy how engaging the show is.”
The money from the ticket sales and concessions will go to towards the Forum Theatre Scholarship Fund for the performing arts students.
