The El Paso Community College Faculty Development office is looking for new artwork for their next Faculty Development Week booklet cover for the upcoming semester.

They are encouraging all faculty, staff, and students with artistic creativity to submit entries for the cover art.

“We do every semester, we have different themes and we offer the opportunity to all our staff and students,” said Ana Resendez, Administrative Associate at the Valle Verde Faculty Development office.

This semester the Faculty Development theme is ‘Pathways” or “the path to success”.

“The program in which EPCC will participate in order to retain and graduate students as well as to make sure they are ready for the workforce or to enter a four-year college/university,” said Resendez.

Anything that the artist think exemplifies a pathway to success, or for students to succeed,  will be accepted,” she said, “The entries can be anything, a drawing, painting, graphic art, a picture, any image that illustrates the theme of pathways.”

El Paso Community College student, Rachael Salais, who is majoring in Art and a member of the EPCC Art Club, said “this will be my first time entering artwork for the booklet cover.”

I heard about the Faculty Development art cover opportunity from my professor and the art club and decided to enter,” she said, “I’m not sure about a specific idea yet, but I would like to incorporate multiple roads in the picture, and maybe play around with a watercolor/ink look and design.”

Salais says that she’ll “submit either a photograph or a watercolor painting with the same image idea of multiple roads.”

“The theme of pathways is a great idea, having different routes and options on the road to success is what everyone should be given and consider,” said Salais.

The Faculty Development office will select which artwork will be featured on the cover of the Faculty Development Week booklet for the upcoming semester.

They request that all artwork be original and the artist whose artwork is chosen will receive a token of appreciation from the Faculty Development. The Deadline for entries is June 3.

Entries can be submitted to the Faculty Development Office, A2419 Valle Verde, or sent to Anna Resendez via email at anar@epcc.edu.
