Owners Kaleb and Patricia Warnock cut the ribbon at the Tropical Smoothie Cafe's grand opening.
A healthy alternative to your average greasy burger, and it is just as satisfying.
This café originated in California 1997 and has spread across the United States since.
With El Paso now being another area for their business, a large part of future success besides the kind of food is sold, is the location.
Located at 1513 N. Zaragoza Road, right in front of planet fitness, which was not a coincidence.
The owner, Kaleb Warnock, chose this specific location near the popular gym with the influence of his previous career in law enforcement, and wanting to promote a healthy life style.
Warnock recalls in his previous career having to go to a fast food restaurant just to get a quick meal, so the healthy option with a “quick and easy process” for getting your food was not available, as explained by Warnock.
With this Café and it's location, it is very convenient to settle any craving for something delicious and healthy because the Café promotes that it is a, “Fast and casual restaurant concept inspiring healthy lifestyles.”
Upon entering the Café, the employees greet you and a tropical, almost rustic, atmosphere surrounds the room.

There is tables with blue rustic chairs on the right side of the café, and the long counter is illuminated by hanging white and blue lights where orders can be placed on the left.
A dark wood paneling are all along the walls, giving the area a very calm and relaxing setting.
On some of the walls there are posters of different smoothies, one of the most popular smoothies, the “Avocolada” which can be seen advertised multiple times, and for good reason.
The blend of avocado, pineapple, spinach, kale, coconut, and lime makes this smoothie feel almost too good to be healthy.
Within the first taste of the smoothie you really get a lot of the spinach and kale tang.
Before it becomes overwhelming, you get the delightful taste of the sweet fruits and the avocado, making this drink a very pleasant surprise and a favorite of the owner Warnock.
The other smoothies such as: The Bahama Mama (strawberries, pineapple, white chocolate, and coconut), the Mango Magic (mango, pineapple, and non-fat yogurt), and my personal favorite, the Island Green (spinach, kale, mango, pineapple, banana), to name a few, were surprising to say the least, with such healthy ingredients it’s surprised how delectable they are.
Supplements such as multi-vitamins, probiotics, and vitamin b 12 can be added to any drink.
The drinks are more expensive, they vary in prices but are similar to what you will pay at Starbucks, but well worth it.
Along with a variety of smoothies, there are also sandwiches, wraps, salads, flatbreads, and tacos.
Each with just as healthy ingredients as the smoothies, most containing grilled chicken and spinach.
Some may sound boring or even too healthy especially when you have a hankering for that greasy burger and supersized fries.
Don’t be fooled, the healthy alternatives are just as good if not better tasting, and not regrettable.
With the prices being the same as what you would spend at a fast food restaurant.
My favorite is the Buffalo Chicken Wrap containing: grilled chicken, tomatoes, romaine, buffalo sauce, low-fat mozzarella, and light dressing in a flour tortilla.
The wrap is juicy, spicy, and filling. It’s spicy enough to invoke a bit of the sniffles but not spicy enough to the point where it cannot be enjoyed.'
The buffalo sauce to the coolness of the veggies and chicken is the perfect ratio, brought together by a warm and almost toasty tortilla.
Other good options are the Ultimate club and Chipotle Chicken Flatbread. This sandwich is bit dry, but if you pair it with one of the smoothies and it fixes that problem.
Over all, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the food and smoothies, on my way home I found myself craving more of the Island Green, which means I might end up spending most of my money from now on just on smoothies.
