The resource fair committee consists of (L-R) Priscilla Gutierrez, Carlos Mejia, Argelia S. Duarte, Dolores Robles, Elvia Lerma, and Martha Brown.
The El Paso Community College Rio Grande student Resource Services will be hosting a Hollywood Resource Fair at the Rio Grande campus parking lot on March 16, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“The Rio Grande student Resource fair was brought back to life in Spring 2013,” says Argelia Duarte, one of the many people involved in this year's event.
“The Student Resource Fair has been growing and getting better every year.”
Argelia knows that many departments and representatives are also involved in supporting this event.
“Thanks to the support from Rio Grande Campus Deans, Counseling, Campus Life, Rio Grande IE Committee, Health Related Grants, and many more departments, the event has been possible to offer to students,” said Argelia.
In this year's event, Argelia said “the Rio Grande student resource fair will be offering a variety of information to students depending on which field or department they are interested in."
"A few of the departments that will be involved this year will be Campus Life, Counseling, EPCC Recycling Department, Testing Services, Student Support Services Program, Instructional Service Center, C.E. Health/Nail Technology, Pharmacy Technology, Library, and many more.”
Students with different interests can go and learn more from their department of choice.
Whether it’s counseling, cosmetology, the medical field or whichever their interest might be, students can obtain more information from their field of interest all in one event.
This year’s theme is Hollywood Walk of Fame where the presenters will get to dress up and decorate their tables according to the theme.
Attendants could also expect door prizes and fun activities that will be scheduled for students.
This event will carry many outdoor activities.
This event has a registration process where students have to sign up in order to attend.
However, the deadline for registration has already passed.
Brandon Gonzalez, a student of El Paso Community college said, “I think it’s cool but I think it’s kind of weird that it’s a Hollywood theme.
"But the concept is very cool that you can learn more about a specific field”
Amanda Jauregui said, “I like the idea that you can learn about the departments that will be there in the fair.
"I think it would be fun being a Hollywood theme.”
