The Late Show returns to late night TV

October 6, 2015

It’s Fall once again, and that means new and returning shows are coming to our TVs and online.

Shows such as Limitless, The Minority Report, and Heroes Reborn started up in September, as well as new seasons for Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, and The Good Wife.

There’s been one show that has caught my attention since it marks the return of a certain “reporter.”

CBS’s The Late Show recently returned back in September with a new host, Stephen Colbert of The Colbert Report fame.

Stephen Colbert was originally known for his work on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

It was there that he created and played the character of a small minded, prideful, idiotic reporter.

It was this character that would allow Colbert to receive his own show, The Colbert Report, in 2005.
For ten years Colbert worked the Colbert Report often parodying Bill O’Reilly’s “The O’Reilly Factor”, Glenn Beck, and Fox News while still playing his character from the Daily Show, but as a devoted, zealous Republican.

The Late Night Show with Stephen Colbert has done a stellar job of hosting the Late Show.
While he has said that he will no longer be playing his character from previous shows, there are still bits and pieces of his character that show through at some points.

He still calls his graphics operator Jimmy, he still has some of his nerdy charm and wit, and even his audience still chants his name at the beginning of his show.

He still uses segments (not the same ones from the Colbert Report, so don’t expect The Word, or Tip of the Hat, Wag of the Finger), and instead of just one interview, its multiple interviews.

At the moment Colbert is focused on mostly covering the Presidential Nominee Campaign and is attempting to interview every candidate running. So far he’s interviewed Donald Trump, Jeb Bush and Bernie Sanders.

Even though he isn’t fully in character Colbert has still managed to be humorous on his own, and is still a treat to watch.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is worth checking out and if you have a yet to see Stephen Colbert in any of his shows, they can still be viewed online.

Comedy Central has clips of his show, The Colbert Report.

You can also find free episodes of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on CBS’s website.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs at 11:35 p.m./10:35c.
