Video game enthusiasts are clamoring over the new reputable titles being released this year. 2015 has been a great year for video gamers, with the release of many different games on many different operating systems, the choices available this summer have never been so broad.
June and July are expected to continue this trend with the release of 49 new games for all of the gaming platforms, including PC and handheld zconsoles.
“Batman: Arkham Knight” was one of the most anticipated games this summer, available on Xbox One, Playstation 4 or PC, and was rated as a 9.2 out of 10 on Imagine Games Network’s (IGN) game rating scale.
According to IGN, the rating was achieved thanks to its new storyline and more than 12 hours of main objectives.
Similar to the previous two games, the streets are overrun with criminals and it’s up to Batman to restore order.
Several other playable characters include: Robin, Nightwing, Catwoman, Azrael and Batgirl make an appearance as side characters, as well as some villains.
The game also features an extremely large open-world, allowing players to immerse themselves in the story and explore new areas of the map like never before. “Batman: Arkham Knight” features the DC Comics’ superhero familiarly cleaning up crime as he did in the previous two games, with an added twist.
The developers of the game, Rocksteady Studios, added the “Batmobile” to navigate the newer, larger world and also to help in heavier battles by transforming into a combat-ready tank, assisting the player in his on-going quest against the criminals inhabiting the city.
This upgrade was one of the biggest hooks for like-minded game enthusiasts eager to “get behind the wheel” and tear through the city streets with the same intensity as the caped crusader, Batman.
Along with the new vehicle are also several new tools, as well as combat techniques and, of course, new enemties.
EPCC child development student Xavier Marrufo purchased the game during its release on June 22.
Describing the game as “worth the wait,” Marrufo said the game will keep him hooked throughout the summer.
“It [Batman: Arkham Knight] was one of the biggest releases this year and it did not disappoint,” he said. “The new tools and new world keep you busy, there is a lot that helps you fight enemies when you’re ambushed.”
Not wanting to leak any spoilers about the game, Marrufo said fans would have to play the game’s new world themselves to experience the fun.
“The new Batman is just as good, if not better, than the previous ones,” he said. “The Batmobile was a great addition. Arkham Knight will keep players happy, it’s one of those must-play games this summer.”
