Insidious Chapter 3 is set as a prequel to the previous two Insidious films.
Although I’m a fan of the previous films, I had low expectations about the third installment because usually horror films get worse as they progress.
However, I enjoyed this film and I actually thought it was better than the second one but not quite as good as the first one.

Insidious follows Quinn (Stefanie Scott) as demonic spirits haunt her.
Set as a prequel before the haunting of the Lambert family in the first films, Insidious: Chapter 3 follows Quinn Brenner as she asks for psychic Elise Rainier’s help to connect with Brenner’s late mother, whom
Brenner believes is trying to reach her in the spirit world. Elise is unable to complete a reading after a demonic spirit threatens to kill her. Soon after, terror ensues.
Directed by Leigh Whannell and stars Stefenie Scott, Lin Shaye, and Dermot Mulroney just to name a few, I was surprised that the film was not being directed by the same person who directed the other Insidious films.
Nevertheless, it was a very well directed movie with effective uses of suspense and tension building throughout the film. There were plenty of moments scary enough to make you jump out of your seat.
The acting in the movie is strong and very enjoyable, it adds on to the suspense because the actors take the movie and the acting seriously.
There were times in the middle of the movie where I felt like the movie lost suspense and had scenes that seemed very out of place, but after the movie did shift back to what it originally was.
In the end, Insidious: Chapter 3 was more than I expected it to be and I thought this movie was the perfect ending the trilogy. It has great performances and scary sequences, definitely an enjoyable movie for a third installment. 3 out of 5 stars.
