Those looking to give a helping hand can participate in a “New York style fashion show” titled Make-a-Wish Function on Dec. 1 at the EPCC Valle Verde Student Union courtyard.
The event will take place at 7 p.m.
Event coordinators are looking for female and male models, hair and make-up student artists, fashion technology students and stage show volunteers.
“We are doing a model call for all students,” said Raul Hernandez, Campus Life representative.
“We are not looking for specific types of students, this call is for anyone who would like to help.”
Students are invited to join as spectators, tickets are $5 for general admission and $10
Attendees also have the option of watching the show for free from the upper balconies of the student union.
All proceeds will go to the El Paso area Make-a-Wish foundation, a nonprofit organization that grants wishes to terminally ill children and teens under the age 18.
“All the money stays in El Paso for the kids who are in line for Make-a-Wish,” Hernandez said. “We want to encourage students to buy a seat.”
Hernandez said that if there is an overwhelming number of students who sign up for modeling, there will be a cut-off limit of 10 male and 10 female models.
Around 20 people will be needed as additional staff for the event.
“We are doing a full production with lighting and huge screens,” Hernandez said.
“Seniors will open up the show and we will have a live DJ mixing while the runway is going through. It will be fun.”
Deadline to sign up for a model spot in the show is Nov. 24. Those interested in doing hair and make-up have until Nov. 17. Students can sign up at any Campus Life office.
